YOUR LEAD TEACHERS
Bess grew up on the ocean and then an organic farm nestled in the Blue Mountains, Australia, spending a childhood in wonderment of the earth, the sky, and all the mysterious beings that lived between. She has been practicing yoga more than half her life, beginning at age 14 when she began a daily practice with the help of a Louisa Sears video she found in her mum’s cupboard. She has been graced with years of study with incredible teachers, including Rose Baudin, Sally Kempton, Dr Robert Svoboda, Elena Brower, Carlos Pomeda, Clive Sheridan, Tara Judelle, Rod Stryker and Gwyn Williams. She is in love with the Goddess in all her forms, and shares deity practices through meditation, mantra, pranayama, and asana. She lives in Byron Bay and is the co-owner of Creature Yoga with Tahl Rinsky. She has been teaching yoga since 2011 and is Yoga Alliance ERYT500 certified.
As a committed practitioner, teacher, and mother of three, Tahl lives and breathes the teachings of yoga. Born in NYC and raised in Israel, Tahl now calls Byron Bay home where she co-owns Creature Yoga with Bess. First introduced to Ashtanga as a child by her Mom, Tahl established her own practice in New York in her late teens. In 2012, pregnant with her 3rd child, she completed a 3-year teacher training (2000 hours) with Dena Kingsberg. Forever a dedicated student, she continues to study with Elena Brower, Rod Stryker, Rose Baudin, Carlos Pomeda, Clive Sheridan and Gwyn Williams. As a teacher, Tahl shares a creative and accessible breath-focused Vinyasa flow influenced by ashtanga in a strong, fun and dynamic style. Her classes celebrate the raw beauty of life’s moments and the individual strengths each of us carry within. Tahl is Yoga Alliance ERYT200 and RYT500 certified.
Rose Baudin has studied and practiced yoga since 1968 and has taught since 1987. She met her mentor, Swami Gauribala Giri, in Sri Lanka in 1971 and was initiated into the Parampara in 1984. During the 16 years she lived in India, she was instructed by master teachers in various schools of yoga: Hatha (Clive Sheridan), Iyengar (Clé Souren, Shandor Remete) Viniyoga (Gary Kraftsow) and Ashtanga (Dena Kingsberg). She has had extensive meditation experience under the guidance of S.N. Goenka (Vipassana), Zen Master Hogen-san Yamahata (Soto Sect) and Sayadaw U Janaka (Satipatthana Insight Meditation). She was introduced to and taught Ayurveda by Dr. Robert Svoboda who also instructed her how to perform the ritual of Agni Hotra in the way of his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. Since 1986, Rose has been based in Australia teaching yoga, meditation, philosophy and . Rose has been conducting yoga intensives, residential retreats and seminars internationally for the past 30 years. Watch a little bit of Rose here.
Dena has been studying and practicing traditional ashtanga yoga for over 30 years. She remains inspired and deeply committed to the vast healing potential of this life changing practice. As one of Sri K.Pattabhi Jois’s most devoted and long term female students Dena is graced with Certification to teach from the AYRI and the Indian Government. Dena has a disciplined yet lyrical style of teaching. Her holistic approach looks beyond external form to guide the individual residing within. She teaches classical yoga to those seeking transformation. Dena is invited to lecture and share workshops internationally and when at home she teaches daily from her yoga Shala in Byron Bay.
Originally from Canada but now living and breathing in the Byron Shire, Bec is a dedicated student, practitioner, teacher and teacher trainer. She grew up as a competitive athlete and has always been interested in movement and psychology. Passionate about the mind-body connection, she began practicing yoga at age 17 but truly dedicated herself in her early twenties. With a background in mentoring and coaching and a University degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education, Bec has carried her education and experiences with her both into her personal practice and as a teacher trainer. Becs teaching style is traditional and intentional and focuses on breath-centred functional movement, stability, stillness and meditation. She continues to study under the guidance of her incredible teachers Maria Kirsten, Karina Guthrie, Elena Brower, Octavio Salvado, Rod Stryker, Gwynn Willams, and Rose Baudin. A devotional practitioner and a forever student, you can find Bec on the mat at creature yoga most days of the week.
Yes! Yoga Alliance is temporarily allowing us to certify you for courses completed 100% online, waiving the in-person requirements. Once you successfully complete the training, you will receive your PDF certificate with the Yoga Alliance stamp.
We recommend about 3 hours of prep work each week leading up to the training, plus a regular (3+ times a week) asana practice, and a daily meditation and pranayama practice. During the six week live portion of the training, expect a full 8 hour day of work (theory and practice teaching) each week, in addition to your daily practice. Time poor? You're welcome to slow it down and process the materials over six months at your own pace.
You will have access to to the course for 6 months from the live start date.
There will be regular small quizzes throughout the course to test your understanding. At the end of the course, you will need to submit a short (2 page) essay (topic TBA) and a 20 minute video of you teaching. Upon submission and approval, we will email you your 200hr certificate.
No problem - we have plenty of students who do our teacher training just to learn more about yoga, and about themselves. If you do not want the Yoga Alliance certificate you do not have to submit the final video.
Live classes and calls will occur at various times throughout the day (we're on Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time). All live classes and calls will be recorded and available for you to practice or watch at a time of your choosing.
Just one - Peter Connelly's 'A Student's Guide to the History and Philosophy of Yoga', either hard copy or as an ebook.
