The Prenatal yoga course is designed to support women throughout all stages of their pregnancy. We provide a calm, safe environment and a gentle class where you can tune into the needs of your body and your growing baby. You will learn how to safely practice yoga in any trimester and alleviate common discomforts such as back pain, sciatica, swelling, low energy and indigestion.
Each class will incorporate:
· Strength and stability exercises for your legs, core, and pelvic floor to support the growing weight of your baby
· Gentle stretching and movement to improve circulation, reduce swelling, and stay active
· Pranayama (breathing) and relaxation techniques to help manage stress in pregnancy and beyond
· Meditation and quiet time to connect with baby and prepare for a truly special journey of motherhood
No experience is necessary. All props will be provided. Please note the focus of this course is yoga to support you throughout your pregnancy. While many of the techniques will be useful during labor, this course is not a birth preparation course.
Dana is a registered Yoga Medicine therapeutic specialist, who is passionate about blending eastern and western perspectives in her teaching. She travels across the globe to lead 200HR and 500HR Teacher Trainings with Yoga Medicine and Tiffany Cruikshank, and is an anatomy lecturer for the Creature Yoga 200Hr Teacher Training program in Byron Bay. Dana is a contributor to Yoga Journal, Yoga Digest, Well Being Yoga Experience, DIY Active, and Yoga Medicine’s social media.
Dana's personal yoga practice began almost 20 years ago. She was introduced to yoga through her dance teacher at 12 years old and practiced daily in high school in place of traditional gym classes. She developed her personal practice in her mid-20s, strongly drawn to mental and emotional benefits during a time of change and uncertainty in her life. Physical injuries brought her to delve deeper into anatomy and the therapeutic side of yoga. Dana became a mum in 2018 and has found yoga immensely helpful in this new chapter of life. She loves sharing the practice with new mums and mums-to-be.
